Today, I'm introducing you to Mel from Sweets to the Sweet. She's a self-taught, home-based baker from South Jersey with a background in art.

Mels says the best part about making cakes is, ".. delivering it to the person who ordered it and watching their reaction. After working on these cakes,some of which take hours just to decorate,there is nothing more rewarding than making a person light up and say "I can't believe you can do this with cake."

She started making creative cakes two years ago and hasn't stopped since. She also loves to make cookies, candies, and pies, but really enjoys decorating a cake for someone special to enjoy on their big day!

I checked out Mel's pics of the cakes she has done and she's got something for just about everyone. Check out her shiny apple cake and her Philly Phanatic cake. My favorite is the sculpted fondant Joker cake she made for a 21st birthday (pictured here) - she nailed it!
